1. I will abide by the Code of Conduct for court interpreters adopted by all the Courts of  The Land while maintaining high standards of conduct to preserve the integrity and independence of the adjudicative system.  I will protect privileged communications, refrain from the unauthorized practice of law, and reveal to the court any conflict of interest.

 

2. I will make a true interpretation of all the proceedings in a language which the limited English proficient person understands, and will repeat the statements of the limited English proficient person to the court or agency conducting the proceedings in the English language, to the best of my skill and judgment.

 

3. I will maintain the respect due to the courts of justice and judicial officers, and to all parties involved in legal proceedings.

David Carl Williams grew up in the Vietnamese Community speaking Vietnamese, and went to Vietnamese school with the other refugees who came to the United States after the communist took over in 1975. He started interpreting and translating in Court since he was approximately 16 years old, and was certified in 1990 in Washington State. Since then, he has been certified in multiple states across the United States and has worked in many states that do not have a certification process. David Carl Williams has worked on both sides of most every process in the criminal and the civil systems. He was also worked in the medical and business fields extensively.
